Augmented Reality for Manufacturing Businesses Demonstration Project in Partnership with Jobs for the Future

In partnership with Jobs for the Future (JFF), Main Street Assembly led a multi-region augmented reality (AR) demonstration project with manufacturing small businesses across the United States. The initiative introduced an AR solution that enabled businesses to document existing manufacturing processes and use AI-powered functionality to train employees across experience levels—from veteran and supervisory leads to new hires—supporting more inclusive, efficient, and scalable workforce training.

The engagement included:

  • Recruiting manufacturing small businesses across multiple regions

  • Introducing and supporting adoption of AR solutions for process documentation

  • Enabling businesses to capture workflows across departments and roles

  • Implementing AI-powered training tools for employees with varying experience levels

  • Supporting onboarding and change management for frontline and supervisory staff

  • Facilitating cross-language communication between frontline workers and supervisors

  • Collecting qualitative and quantitative data on workforce and business outcomes

  • Supporting peer learning and shared insights across participating businesses

Outcomes included:

  • Stronger employee engagement and confidence

  • Improved product quality and higher productivity metrics

  • Reduced language barriers and expanded worker mobility opportunities

  • Unanimous commitment from participating businesses to continue using AR and other immersive learning technologies
